~*Thanksgiving Day*~

What is thanksgiving? How thankful are you? Why are you thankful? Thanksgiving is about being thankful for what you have or what you don’t have. It’s a day you spend with your family, friends, or anyone important in your life. When you think about thanksgiving you think about food especially that big turkey! But that’s not all of it, there’s more to it if something tragic actually happens that day that’s makes you appreciate the big things that aren’t always on your mind.
Thanksgiving is an act of giving thanks, being grateful especially towards God. In most families all the women of the house prepare the meal, while the men provide the food. On Thanksgiving Day, a turkey is cooked with so many side dishes. When a family is ready to eat, you usually say grace or things that you are grateful for. This year I was a lot more thankful than I have ever been in my life.
I’m more thankful this time around only because a very tragic incident happened to my best friend and I. My best friend was driving and we were rear ended on the freeway. The car was totaled from behind and on top of that we were spinning into the opposite side of traffic. We couldn’t stop and the only thing to do was pray and hope we weren’t going to be killed by on coming traffic. Thankfully a bus driver was pulled over on the off ramp and stopped traffic, the car started up again and we were off the freeway. This has never happened to me before, but it is why I am so thankful for my life now more than ever.
Thankful because I’m here today, thankful because I was able to have dinner with my family, thankful that I’m not dead or severely injured. I’m still young but I’m still learning how not to take things for granted because they can be gone at the snap of a finger. Never say Never, Always say Always because the unexpected with always be the most expected.

My Life Lessons

Was there a techer that taught you "life lessons"? What lessons did they teach you? How is it affecting your life now? Judith O. Cofer wrote about a techer that not only taught her in the classroom but also taught her outside of the school environment. From expanding her vocabulary to opening her mind to new and exciting thing this world has to offer. Teachers teach many different things in the classroom but sometimes there's that one teacher that you can go to and they teach everything you need to know about things in real life.
There were many techers that taught "life lessons" but there was always one that stood out. Her name was Ms. Farias, she taught religion, was the Cheerleading coach, and the schools activity director. She is a very bright woman, although no college degree still full of "life lessons" to teach. Ms. Farias has big black frizzy hair, long colorful acrylic nails, loud like a bullhorn but the personality like a sour patch. Don't take things for granted was one of her lessons that really shed light on me. A classmate passed away August twenty-third two thousand three. Our class was a really close class. She always taught us to never take things because it can be taken away at the snap of a finger. We never really took her seriously until this tragedy happened. He was shot in the middle of the day, who does that? We asked. We wanted answers and we didn't get any. Finally, the day we had her class she explained to us that sometimes things are taken away to widen our perspective on things. Understanding was very hard but finally now we really understad because another classmate just passed this October fifth two thousand five. We're finally getting the idea. No one will ever have all the right answers but they can sure try to make you understand them.

Too Much or Too Little

What is description? Is there such a thing as too much or too little of it? Why is it important? Description is an account that presents a picture to a person who reads or hears it. To have description in every story is very crucial because you want to reader to understand what you’re writing or even to picture it. Another way to keep your reader intrigued is to use the 5 senses in description.
There is such a thing as too much or too little description. Using too much and too little description will lose to focus of your reader. The reader may even lose total interest in reading it at all. Some people love to read and they want to be in the story. If you as a writer cannot accomplish that for them or anyone then no on will want to read it.
Description is important because you don’t want your reader to ever put your book or story down. Using the five senses in writing is a great technique Stephan King has. He makes you feel as though you’re right there in the book with all the characters. You feel what the character feels and smell what the character smells. If I, as a writer, can accomplish that same feel in writing it would be great. But I’m still learning as I read Stephan King and try and copy his techniques.

Frustration!!

What is my biggest frustration right now? Why is it bothering me right now? How is it affecting me at the moment? Frustration is the hardest thing to deal with because it could really hurt or you can be really mad. Everyone has a frustration that bothers them at a point in there life. There's never just one frustration ever in your life. There always has to be one huge tradegy that happens that really affects you.
My biggest frustration is how people keep dropping out of my life as i get closer to graduating or starting something brand new in my life someone leaves drops me like a piece of trash or someone passes in my life. I graduated June 8, 2007, after graduating Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School most of my friends dropped me like a piece of trash. Things happen for a reason and people change and we all grow at different times so i'm kind of getting over it but at the moment i have a bigger frustration.
Just another classmate passed away i thought our class had already finished going through this. Our junior year a really close classmate passed and is in a better place and just got shot in the middle of the day. how is that possible? it's just because some guys wanted his bags thats all and because they didn't get it and he didn't want to fight them they shot him. how could they do that? That is a real person with no morals, no conscious, no anything. Brian is the second classmate that passed. He passed because he was racing. I can't believe he is racing, he would never do anything like that. The disappointting thing is that he was racing another classmate and it was just supposed to be for fun. No one was supposed to get HURT!!!!! Someone died!!!
I ask WHY??? I still have no answers and i want answers. HE'S DEAD!!!! I can't get over that. It's so frustrating and i want all the answers so that i can live knowing that he's ok and i know he's in a better place and GOD needed him but we need him too. We want him in our lives and i wanna know why we can't have him??? TELL ME!!!! I need to know but again i won't get all the answers that i want but people can sure try and explain them to me but it's just on me how i accept them and take them in.

The Past 24 Hours

This situation has been going on since i started school here at the Mount St. Mary's College (MSMC) august twenty-seventh. What happened in the past twenty-four hours has taught me a lot about my twin Alex. I moved out august twenty-fifth two thousand seven to come and live here at school. He's been very angry with me since then.
I was talking to my boss of the Fitness Center on October first two thousand seven about what has been going on. She too has a twin brother. She started explaining that her brother reacted the same exact way when she move out. Granted when she came to MSMC she was coming from a further place. My twin brother was simply mad because he thought i was leaving him. As she went on and kept explaining to me her situation main start to fill inn. Although, he would never admit that he didn't want me to leave i know the real answer. She said that "they feel like your supposed to do everything yogether because you've done so for so long, but you two have to spread your wings and you'll be twins just going to different school, plus you only live thirty minuts away." I will be going home this weekend and i intend to talk to him about this but he'll probably say something thats not even going close to him missing me and not wanting me to leave but i'll know and it's true. It hurts when i go hom and he just looks at me and doesn't even talk to me. He's my best friend and i need to talk to him about this to get over it. It'll probably be a lot of yelling but will be over in five minutes.

The Elements of Two Stories

The Elements of Two Stories
How does suspense make you react while reading? Does descriptiveness scare you or disgust you? What elements do you like about storytelling and stories? Descriptiveness is basically in all stories and in storytelling because to make it a great story for the reader you must engage them. Suspense on the other hand is mostly found in horror, mystery, drama, etc... It’s used to keep you on your toes and to keep reading the story. Suspense and descriptiveness are just two of the many elements for stories and storytelling.
Descriptiveness must always engage the reader to keep his or her interest. Description can make the reader disgusted, or happy, or sad, etc… In the short story “The Boogeyman”, Stephan King is very descriptive. His words vary when it comes to helping the reader imagine what the character is feeling, hearing, and seeing. When you read “so nice, so nice, his voice sounding like seaweed” you must think something quite scary. But reading this story meant it’s not something that would happen often, although very scary to some might have been just another story with some what disgusting details.
Suspense is also important especially in horror, mystery, drama, etc… It’s very critical in these stories because you want to keep the reader reading. But don’t drag it on too much because then the reader will get distracted. In the short story “The Boogeyman”, He kept the suspense going throughout the story with “I see the closet open just a crack, knowing that it was shut before”
Suspense is scary to me but I’d rather have the suspense to want to know what’s going to happen next because other wise I would get really bored. Suspense has a way of getting into your mind and making you imagine. The actual story puts in the place of the character or right next to it to feel and sense and smell exactly what the character is feeling and sensing and smelling. Descriptiveness is very important to me but also scary I have a very distinct smell, I can smell the smallest thing so when I read what is being described and can smell it I can feel it and I can taste it sometimes. Describing in stories especially scary stories is important in a sense the writer wants to scare the reader. Reading these past three stories have rally scared me because I’m a big chicken. The boogeyman really scared how every time he described the closet it was cracked open just a bit but it seemed like every time he said that is was open just a bit more than the first time and it was even scarier to read cause your wondering why isn’t he going in and checking, yes he was scared but be a man and be brave for your children. Ok the first time but the second and third and fourth time now that’s just a little too much. You already know what in there and you want your children to be safe so save them even if they said candy but you had the slightest idea that they said closet then you take them out. Parents usually have those certain feeling when something is wrong but he didn’t want his children to be sissy’s but in actuality he was being the sissy and not protecting his child.
